Nevada Real Estate Academy FAQ:

Q. Where are the classes located?

A. Our classes are held at one of our 2 classroom locations: Corporate Training Classroom located 3185 St. Rose Parkway Suite #100 Henderson, Nevada 89052. 702-796-7777; and our SW Training Classroom at 8850 West Sunset Road Suite #200 Las Vegas, Nevada 89148 702-734-5555. Laurette Mormon is our Director of Education and the Academy has 4 instructors who teach the courses.

Q. What times are the classes instructed?

A. Pre Licensing courses are held Monday thru Friday. The Day class runs from 9 am to 3 pm for 4 Weeks and the Evening class runs from 5:00 pm to 10:00 pm for 4 Weeks.  Courses begin on the first Monday of the month with the exception of a Monday holiday in which the course will begin on Tuesday. Courses alternate times and locations and are subject to change without notice.

Q. Will a certificate be issued?

A. Upon successfully completion of the course and passing the three comprehensive final exams with a score of at least 75 % or higher you will be issued two certificates of completion, a 90 hour Certificate and a 30 hour certificate. These will be your certificates that you will need to provide to the Nevada Real Estate Division when applying for your Real Estate License.

Q. How Can I Enroll in Home Study Courses?

A. Register for the month of your choice on our website: www.NVREAcademy.com.  There is a box on the enrollment agreement where you can indicate that you are choosing our Home Study Option.

Q. What is Required by the Real Estate Division to obtain a Nevada Real Estate License?

ALL APPLICANTS: 

1. Application Form (Form 549)
2. Two fingerprint cards processed by a government or law enforcement agency, within the last six months
3. Original state and national passing exam results dated within last 12 months
4. Salesperson Fee: $140.00 Broker-Salesperson Fee: $160.00
5.  Be 18 years of age or older

REAL ESTATE SALESPERSON INITIAL LICENSE REQUIREMENTS (October 1, 2021 and after) 

1. Proof of pre-licensing education by certified transcripts or certificates.
2. A total of 120 hours required.
a) 45 hours or 3 college credits Real Estate Principles.
b) 45 hours or 3 college credits Real Estate Law (must include 18 hours Nevada law).
c) 15 hours or 1 college credit in contracts in real estate transaction to the extent allowed in the capacity of the licensee. (Licensed out-of-state applicants are not required to take this course.)
d) 15 hours or 1 college credit in agency in real estate transaction to the extent allowed in the capacity of the licensee. (Licensed out-of-state applicants are not required to take this course.)

REAL ESTATE BROKER-SALESPERSON – Initial Licensing Requirements (Oct 1, 2021 and After)

1. Proof of pre-licensing education by certified transcripts or certificates.
2. 64 semester college credits required
a) 45 hours or 3 college credits Real Estate Principles or licensed experience.
b) 45 hours or 3 college credits Real Estate Law (must include 18 hours Nevada law provided by a Nevada School).
c) 45 hours or 3 college credits Real Estate Appraisal course or licensed experience.
d) 45 hours or 3 college credits Broker Management course. (Nevada specific course)
e) 15 college credits in other real estate, business, economics, or licensed experience.
f)  15 hours or 1 college credit in contracts in real estate transaction to the extend allowed in the capacity of the licensee. (Licensed out-of-state applicants are not required to take this course.)
g) 15 hours or 1 college credit in agency which must include 3 hours of foundation of relationship between broker and agents and 3 hours of risk reduction. (Licensed out-of-state applicants are not required to take this course.)
h) General college level credits from any accredited college or university:
Unlicensed first-time applicants: 35 credits
Licensed out fo state applicants: 37 credits

Proof of Experience: You may submit a combination of both experience and education transcripts to meet the full 64 semester college credits. College credits must be obtained if experience is not verifiable.

Experience may be used in place of education certificates (8 years = 64 college credits).
a) For every 2 years of real estate licensed experience, Nevada will allow 16 college credits towards all education with the exception of 45 hours Broker Management and 18 hours Nevada real estate law.
b) Must show proof experience was:
1. Full time.
2. The real estate license is current.
3. Use form 509 (for salesman or broker/salesman).
4. A certified licensing history of licensure.
5. Dates of proof must be within a 90 day period of application.

REAL ESTATE BROKER:

1. See 1 and 2 of broker/salesperson.
2. Must furnish proof of 2 years of active full time experience within the last 4 years.
3. Submit location of records form 512
4. Complete confidential financial statement form 558

Q. What is the Academy’s Cancellation Policy

A. If a student cancels enrollment within three days after signing the Enrollment Agreement, student will receive a refund of 100% of the tuition fees. If the student cancels enrollment prior to the start of instruction, and three days after signing the Enrollment Agreement, there will b a refund of the tuition fee, less a registration fee of 10% of the tuition amount.  After the start of the instruction, and before  60% of the course has been completed from the start date of the class that the student enrolls in which is the 12th session for the 120 Hour Evening Student or the 7th session for the Day Student, the Academy has received a refund request in writing from the student/guardian, a refund will be made less: 1.) 10% of the tuition as a registration fee and 2.) a pro rated amount of the tuition determined by the first day of instruction to the last day of attendance by the student. No refund of tuition will be granted after 60% completion of the program. Refund for texts will be granted provided that the texts are returned unused and undamaged no later than the first day of class. If the Academy cancels the selected course, there will be a full refund to the student. Nevada Real Estate Academy will issue all refunds within 15 calendar days upon receipt of the written cancellation request. All written refund requests can be sent to RESchool@bhhsnv.com. Refunds are only applicable to those students who pay the full tuition amount for the course and will not apply to any discounted tuition program.

Q. What is the Student Grievance Policy

A. Students enrolled in licensed, private postsecondary educational institution, have the right to register a legitimate complaint with the Commission on Postsecondary Education. Prior to filing a complaint, you must attempt to resolve the issue with school officials according to the policies of the school which you are attending. If you are unable to reach a solution, you may contact the Commission and they will attempt to resolve the issue. If a resolution cannot be reached, you will be required to complete a formal complaint form; Formal complaints are investigated by staff and a decision by the administrator of the Commission. If either part does not agree with that decision, an appeal to the full Commission may  be requested:  NRS 394.520 allows for the following:

  1. A full refund can be ordered if it is determined that the school substantially failed to furnish the education agreed to in the enrollment contract.;
  2. One-half of all monies paid can be ordered if it is determined that the school substantially furnished the education stated in the enrollment contract but the conditions were substandard to the point the student could not be expected to complete the training.
